Vestas has received a 59 MW order from Exelon Wind for 33 V100-1.8 MW
turbines for the Harvest II Wind Project in
Huron
County
.
The
contract includes delivery and commissioning along with a 10-year
service and maintenance agreement. Delivery is scheduled for mid-2012,
and commissioning is expected in late 2012. “We are very pleased to be
working with Exelon Wind to bring more clean energy to
Michigan
,” said Martha Wyrsch, President of Vestas-American Wind Technology,
Inc. “The V100-1.8 MW is well-designed for the wind speeds of this
area.”
The
contract includes Vestas’ Active Output Management (AOM) 4000
maintenance program. The AOM 4000 program guarantees turbine
availability and includes all planned and unplanned maintenance
services. AOM 4000 also includes continuous remote monitoring and
surveillance of the project via the VestasOnline® SCADA system.
The
Harvest II Wind Project will provide enough electricity to power nearly
18,000
Michigan
homes.
The
Harvest I Wind Project — the first utility-scale wind power plant in
Michigan
— was commissioned in 2008 and includes 32 Vestas V82-1.65 MW
turbines.
Harvest
Wind II will be constructed north and south of the Harvest Wind I
project in
Chandler
and Oliver townships. All the blades, towers and nacelles for this
project will be built at Vestas’ manufacturing facilities in
Colorado
.
Exelon
Wind also owns the Michigan Wind 2 Project, which is under construction
and will include 50 V100-1.8 MW turbines. Michigan Wind 2 is expected to
be completed by the end of 2011.
This
order is Vestas’ 12th North American order announcement in 2011.
Combined,
Vestas has secured orders totaling 1,617 MW for the year in the
United States
and
Canada
. It’s also the 11th contract secured for a project using V100-1.8 MW
turbines in
North America
since 2010.
